Old, New, Borrowed, Blue - Blogger Challenge!

So.. I don't know how many people will do this but I thought I'd do a blogger challenge.

Hunt in your inventory and find something old, older than 6 months would be best

Then find something new/buy something new.

Borrow something from a friend, be it an item of clothing, a pose, anything.

And find something blue!

Throw it together and blog it and if you have flickr, post it here

British Summer

British summers are all the same, so with a sigh she threw on the heavy jumper for the cold of the morning...

Though through the morning the sun began to push through the clouds so pulling off her sweater she reached into her trunk to find a nice casual tee

In the end though, even that was too hot so she pulled off the tee to appreciate the sun in her bum skimming hot pants

Dancing with butterflies

Butterflies, to my mum, are the symbolism of new life. She loves to use them as a metaphor which attracted me to this dress, it's stunning with the fascinator and different sizes of butterflies to attatch

Valentina E Couture made this dress for the dressing room blue (70L I think) It's gorgeous but I highly reccommend you get the demo before hand, in dresses I'm usually a S and in this I'm wearing XXS, vanity sizing! (joke) but you can see it is hanging off my back.

Apart from my problem with the sizing this dress is visually stunning and the shades of green are lovely and subtle throughout without being so heavy that it clashes with my colouring.

One is a lady who lunches

So lunch dah-links, always an important occasion especially if one is a lady of one's class! So throing together an outfit fit for a black and white ball but my hair.... maybe my hair is too informal... so I gave it another style which just did.not.go

The classic white dress, better than the LBD because it's flawless and crisp but my shoes would now not go, flawless and black and white heels just do NOT go my dears! Unfortunately the shoes I laid my eyes upon were orange and, well you see, I had to wear them having never worn them before!

So I had to throw together another outfit with s snazzy little bag... well... let me tell you, can you imagine my horror when I realised it was well past lunch and reaching time for suppah.... so I made it at least to suppah my dears!

LiquidH3ll so kindly offered on plurk 8 1000L gift cards for Intrigue Co. and being all grabby (insert child making grabby motions here) I politely asked for one!
I ran to Intrigue Co. and was greeted by a miriad of colours and such awesomly bizarre stuff! I found it so hard not to buy all the things!

BUY ALL THE THINGS!!!

Following that I ran full pelt to The Dressing Room Blue as I'd been saying (repeatedly) that I had to buy Eclectic Wingtip's contribution and well.... I ended up buying more and more....
And maybe a bit too much!

I think I bought a little too much! oops!

But aren't all the meshy goods so amazing? you move, it moves, no ugly prims sticking out of your joints! Which means I can pull all these poses on my Hobbes (MY HOBBES! NOT YOURS!)

On Location, Store Project #2 & Week 12

Another on Location post which I've mixed with the 52 weeks of Colour Challenge, this week's colour is St. Patrick's Blue (take your pick between my jacket or skirt!)

I've chosen the Dressing Room and the Dressing Room Blue for my location this week, I think there's something very classy about a landscape that epitomises spring, though it looks very simple I love the quirky trees and the houses colours are very fresh.

Week 8 ~ Dark Raspberry

I love the word raspberry, it's supposed to be pronounced razz-berry which makes me think of making fart noises by blowing on someone's tummy (aka Razzing) but I pronounce it Rasp-berry, like it's spelt and rasp makes me think of going pthhhhhpt! (:p)

Anywho, I was very glad that I waited to do my week 8 of the 52 weeks of colour challenge as all the new releases of coldLogic came out (yes I know I don't like doing new releases but as a challenge this counts PLUS I included freebies hehe) so I decided to use all the gorgeous purple shades as everyone has an opinion on which shade is Dark Raspberry and I am NEVER one to match the swatch hehe!

Going Back to Black

Usually I'll write a cutesy little story to go along with my blog post but the Back2Black event begins tomorrow (11th) and I'm blogging 22769's item (is a full outfit but I loved the jumper most) which will be at the event.

Back2Black is an event to highlight mental health illnesses.
Since I was about 11 or 12 I've had mood fluctuations, who doesn't at that age? But I lived in a household where my sister suffered from severe depression due to bullying and anorexia because at 7st people called her fat.
She got better, thankfully, though I don't remember much of that time, I don't remember anyone telling me she had depression or anorexia, I just guessed.. I stayed at the school my sister was bullied at while she dropped out and moved to a private school, she got better but when I was 17 she had a nasty breakup, now we have a very open household and I wandered into the bathroom while she was in the bath. The only thing I can describe is one of the photographs at Auschwitz, where the bodies lay there dead and emaciated but what lay in the bath was my living, breathing, skeletal sister, all I could smell was the overpowering smell of pear drops, also known as ketones, ketones are produced when your body starts digesting it's own fat because you have no nutrients coming in or left with you..
I won't lie, I started screaming at her, I don't cope the way my parents did by weedling her to eat, I just would scream and scream, one day I threatened if she didn't eat we'd play suffragettes and I'd force feed her..

22769 Back2Black HomeDress and Willow Maxi Skirt

I digress. Growing up in that situation probably screwed me over a little bit. Just under a year ago I started using the app "My Fitness Pal", I weighed myself obsessively, if I hadn't lost weight I'd not eat, I went from being a healthy 9st 10/11 to 8st 12, still a healthy weight but at my height (5tf 7) I looked terrible. Peter told me, my friends told me and my family told me.
Along with this I was having violent mood swings, honestly I don't remember much of this.. I ask Pete now and again what I was like and he tells me I was vile, unbearable and difficult.. I guess I must have been. He begged me to get help but wouldn't force me to go, he said if I needed help I had to go myself.

One day I finished work early and went through my university campus on the bus.. inside I was tearing myself apart, do I stay on the bus or do I get off and walk into the doctors?
I stayed on the bus..
The next day I walked into the doctors and broke down to a nurse who hurridly made me an appointment with the doctor. When the doctor asked me what made me come to get help I told her
"I got let out of placement early"

I was already on low dose tricyclic antidepressants for my migraines so she upped them to work as both migraine relief and anti-depressants, the first two weeks were murder, my moods flew off the handle but slowly I got better.
I was still trying to lose weight though.. then, when my housemates were out the house I was running from the shower to my room and I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, dropping my towel I looked at myself and all I could think was
"WHERE the hell have my boobs gone?!"

Sadly, that was my turning point, not people's concerns, not the doctor, not my family nor the love of my life
My boobs, I had fried eggs where I once had some nice teacups
Peter, dog and I went on holiday to Cornwall for a week and I stopped using the app.
I did a traithlon in May.
In September I helped Pete get diagnosed with depression (work related) I supported him through finding the job of his dreams, moving 80 miles from me and now he is detoxing from his antidepressants. I'm still on mine and still have low moods but I feel so much better now.

The one thing I can say if you find yourself in this situation is seek help, don't go it alone, so many people care enough to see you get better.

52 Weeks of Colour Challenge - Week 2

Week 2 brings us coral, and in all honesty coral is one of my least favourite colours, it's up there with peach and brown. Originally I was going to use my favourite skin as it has a beautiful coral coloured lipstick to it, it's quaint, flawless and suptuous... then while trawling my inventory I found some nice blushers which added to the overall corally tone

I knew I owned one sweater which is coral in colour but saw someone else used it, call me sad but I wanted to do something that I hadn't seen someone else use (seeing after is fine but not before!)
I also debated using the lovely coral Hucci shoes I blogged a few days ago but thought that slightly cheeky

So what should I find when sorting my dresses into colour groups than this soft, summery coral dress (yes yes I know it's winter still!)

So I still used my fave skin and the blusher, read the credits for more details

A Mesh Mish Mash

Two blog posts in a week?! I'm clearly procrastinating from this final essay!

On The Cat I blogged about the jeans and the black tee as a combo then went for a wander back at The Dressing Room and The Dressing Room Blue
(warning in advance, I'm not doing a final bit with all the links so read well!)

And I found a VERY cute mesh skirt by R.icielli and a sweet pink top by Tee*fy (which again proves red heads can wear pink!) available at The Dressing Room and The Dressing Room Blue

The hair is a subscribo gift at Exile which I've tinted  a bit orange to suit my ginger-ness

Teamed with my pretty top and jeans in the same at paper.doll (all sale items either 25L or 50L) and my looovely new mesh shoes (subscribo item at Hucci) I look fah-bulous dah-link!

Every item I'm wearing is between 0 - 70L$

NB The picture of the black tee and union flag skirt has been flipped over so the flag is on the other side and the hair parts the other way as per the image on the right

Faux Fox Fur Kills?!

I love myself a little bit of Collabor88! I also love myself a bit of plurk so when I saw anya.ohmai's picture of what she was to release for collabor88's prom theme I fell in love. She had produced a really quaint set of fox stole's (like what you'd see in the 30's), I forgot all about them until I saw on plurk that people had been griefing the collabor88 creators for this and that and they'd decided to take on ohmai's "a little foxy"  set by accusing her of animal cruelty.

Some people really need to get a life and realise in SL all fox stoles are FAUX as it is pixels...

So I decided to strip of for a good cause, even in Winter I am a die hard Greenpeace supporter so I thought I'd take this opportunity to promote faux fur as it saves many furry cute little animal lives!

Now don't forget it is winter and Saff is enjoying being wrapped up warm

And in the nud it is FREEZING!!!

But it's all for a great cause!
